Barbecue and cookoff
enthusiasts enjoy the annual
National Championship Barbecue Cookoff
and Parade in October and the
John A. Lomax
Cowboy Music Gathering and Chuck Wagon Cook-off in April. The Chamber of Commerce hosts annual
festivals, the Heart of Texas Barbecue Cookoff, the Bosque
County Go Texan Barbecue Cookoff, concerts on the Courthouse Square
and finishes the year with it's Annual Christmas activities and
parade.
Those who enjoy
antique tractors are treated on the second Saturday in June to the
Duncan Seawright Memorial Tractor Show and
Pull and on the fourth Saturday in October to the Bosque
Bottoms Tractor Show and Pull. Both are held in conjunction
with barbecue cookoffs.
Meridian, population
approximately 1,539, is located at the junction of Highways 6, 22, 144 & 174 and
approximately 50 miles northwest of Waco, Texas and 90 miles
southwest of Dallas/Fort Worth.
Meridian is an ideal
location for the many thriving businesses as well as a commercial
center for farming and ranching. A growing city, Meridian has an
active Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce. As
the I-35 commercial corridor widens and the Metroplex continues to
