Obtaining and submitting a building permit for NEW CONSTRUCTION:

  • Obtain and complete a building permit application.  Click HERE to obtain a (pdf) copy of the application.

  • Submit with the completed application, three (3) complete sets of building plans, each of which must  include:

    • Floor plans of the proposed construction including construction details.

    • Foundation plans, including all details.

    • Elevations of the proposed building for all four views.

  • Submit with the completed application and three 3) sets of building plans a site plan as detailed here:

    • The location of the proposed construction on the property.

    • The location and construction of any proposed delivery(s)..

    • The location of all easements or a note on the plan that none exists.

    • The surface water drainage for the property.

    • The location of individual trees or groups of trees with a callipered diameter of four inches or more when measured 48 inches from the ground.

  • A finished floor elevation survey is required for all new structures prior to foundation approval.

Required Inspections:

  • Installation of a temporary pole.

  • Pier inspections – if not engineer designed.

  • Foundation – A finished floor elevation survey reflecting floor elevations and setbacks from property lines must be submitted prior to calling for this inspection.  If foundation is engineered, City must have a letter, signed and stamped with a seal from the engineer prior to pouring that states that the engineer has inspected the project and that it passes according to design.

  • Electrical rough, Framing rough, HVAC rough, Plumbing top out should be called in together.

  • Electrical final, Framing final, HVAC final, Plumbing final, certificate of occupancy should be called in together.

Electrical Inspection fee - $58.50ea.  Other Inspection fee - $37.50 ea.
