On the fourth Friday and Saturday of October, Meridian is host to the Lone Star Barbecue Society (LSBS) sanctioned, invitation only National Championship Barbecue Cookoff for brisket, ribs and chicken. Many other events, like a parade, vendors, kids activities, a carnival, musical entertainment surround the event. Come judge the barbecued meats, or participate in the People's Choice award

National Championship Barbecue Cookoff fundraiser June 27
Since its inception, the National Championship Barbecue Cookoff has raised funds for local volunteer organizations, medical facilities and scholarships for Bosque County graduating seniors. The fried fish fundraiser BYOB dinner – co-hosted by the Meridian Chamber of Commerce - is planned for Saturday, June 27 at the Meridian Civic Center, starting with a social hour at 5 p.m. followed by the live auction starts at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. 22nd annual 4-H Youth and the Lucky Clover Golf Tournament May 16 - CANCELLED
The Lucky Clover Golf Tournament with a morning and afternoon flight is Bosque 4-H’s largest fundraiser of the year and supports many different youth development programs and activities including Texas 4-H Congress, County Camp, Leadership Lab, and State and District Competitions and Scholarships. The 22nd Annual Lucky Clover Golf Tournament will be held at Bosque Valley Golf Course on Saturday, May 16 is a great chance to continue, or to begin, making a difference in the lives of the youth in Bosque County. You can register as an individual and be placed on a team, or submit any or all team members with required information and entry fee. The cost is $50/person or $200/team which includes green fees, soft drinks, sausage wraps and a steak dinner - golf cart is extra. The prizes are worthwhile: first - $280, second -$240, third - $200, plus three random $100 payouts. Awards will follow each flight.
